Breast Cancer Awareness Month

For those of you who do not know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  Earlier this year  I started my Awareness Edition birds. Starting with Breast Cancer as a neighbour of mine was at the time battling again a re-occurrence of it. She didn't make it.  She is one of a few now that I have know who have fought and lost again breast cancer. And though it is one of the more often survived cancers, it is still devastating every time it takes a beautiful life.

So for the month of October I am going to be pricing down my Breast Cancer birds. 10% of the sale price.  BUT the 25% that goes to Breast Cancer Foundation of Canada will still be calculated off of the original price! This goes for any bird already in inventory or any custom order of a Breast Cancer Bird.

Sparkling Pink Breast Cancer Bird - DiSCOUNTED PRICE! 10% Large Size - Bird Ornament - A Bird For Every Reason                 DISCOUNTED! 10% Off! Pinky Breast Cancer Awareness Bird - Medium Size - Bird Ornament - A Bird For Every Reason
These are my only two left in stock at the moment. But there is another batch of birds on the paint table

One in 9 Canadian women is expected to develop breast cancer during her lifetime, (by the age of 90). One in 29 Canadian women will die of breast cancer. Breast cancer rates have stabilized yet it remains the most commonly diagnosed cancer in Canadian women, and the second leading cause of cancer deaths. This means still more work in research, early detection, and awareness is needed. For more Information visit: www.cbcf.org

PS:

My little birdie also got a feature on a Sheknows.ca article showcasing some breast cancer awareness items!  http://www.sheknows.ca/home-and-living/articles/960321/etsy-breast-cancer-awareness-month-items

My Treasury Monday Returns!

Hi! For all my new followers,  the short and skinny of it is I used to do a My Treasury Monday post ever- . . .   on the occasional Monday.  Well  as things got busy and I got procrastinatey,  MTM  slowly tapered off into nothingness.  Well what with a new store and a need to find new favorites, finds, and friends on there, I'm going to try and bring it back!

I thought I'd start with something simple. I though, hey what about a garden tea party. . . but the more I looked the more I wanted to add and in the end I felt like what I had just wasn't enough. So, I think at some point in the future I'm going to have to take a month and do an expanded version of each set.

Yes, yes I will.

In the mean time, here you go. The first, of hopefully many (but don't quote me on that), of the returned My Treasury Monday's!

a Rafflecopter giveaway

Here's what she had to say in the comments:

I love the awareness ones! My daddy passed away from a fairly unknown and very aggressive cancer called Multiple Myeloma. My daughter has since been selling Myeloma bracelets to raise money for a cure. Our main focus is bringing awareness so people now what they are up against. When my dad had it, it took us off guard since we never have heard of it. Thank you!

Thank YOU atabanana. Sorry to hear about your father but props to your daughter on her fundraising and awareness work

Thanks again to everyone who entered.  I had so much fun reading all your commentsAnd your responses about the birds have really given me the extra lift I needed to really push to get these little guys out there.

I'm also hoping to start doing the "My Monday Treasury" soon now that I have a new active Etsy shop!   And I'll try to add at least one new bird a week to the shop as well.

A custom order item will be listed soon but in the mean time if you would like to order a custom bird just email me directly and we can work something out!

Till next time, keep crafty!

That Thing I Made this time?

A store That Thing I Made on Etsy

Yeah yeah. A store.  Won't be much in it for now. I had intended on having my booboo buddies be the opening act.  But a few hours today spent in photoshop making something for a friend led to a an idea that just ran away with me!

She had told me a lovely story this morning about how she was having a terrible horrible no good very bad day when in the drive thru waiting for her coffee she decided to pay for the people behind her.  Doing a good random deed for someone else turned her day around and she left the drive thru smiling.

I've always believed in random acts of kindness.  Big or small, flowers for someone who's having a bad day,  help the elderly or at least sit and listen to their stories if they want to tell them, mowing your neighbours lawn, organize a neighborhood cleanup, leave an extra big tip,  donate, help, give hope.  I think these big and little things help make the world a much better place.

So to help support and encourage random acts of kindness, I've made these little tickets or tags. Whatever you'd like to call them.

I will be selling them in a sheet of 8 as printable PDFs at $3 each.

When you order one, not only do you get your own Angel # which no two purchasers will share, but 75% of the monies made go to a fantastic site called therandomact.org

therandomact.org is a website dedicated to helping to facilitate or fund, and to connect individual who want to make a difference with acts of kindness!

They recently have helped me out with a friend in need (which I can't post about till the act of kindness is done but there will be a post!) and so now I want to help raise money for then in return to help them fund more acts of kindness

So for each $3CND that comes into my PayPal,  $2.25 CND will then get sent over to the Crowdrise fundraiser for therandomact.org you see on the right over there.  (Also the main cause for the new layout. Not sure what I think of it yet. Might need a new banner)  Since that is a fundraising site though, if you want to donate without buying feel free! The money goes from you, through Crowdrise, right to therandomact.org! And you'll be able to follow it's progress from here.

Next post: I will show you how they helped out my friend.

Booboo buddy #2; Senior Froggy!

And here he is!

Tried something a little different this time.

Quilt batting on the animal side.  Makes it a little stiffer around the opening than I'd care for but it does prolong the cold life of the icepack (tested it compared to Finley Fox)

Also, it's obvious that my embroidering is going to need some more practice. (As this was actually the first time I've ever done it. The flies are, well,  yeah.  Though there was only supposed to be one fly then I realize I put it on the wrong corner. So this one has two.  Yay for prototypes!

Any thoughts? I'm contemplating little feet on the next frog...

Also, if I created an Etsy shop, would you buy one?

My Treasury Monday #4

So hot! High of 31C called for today.  And our AC is busted. Not an uncommon issue right now as Carla of My Half Dozen Daily is having the same problem. Wish we had a pool.  Might have to fill up Little Badger's baby pool and have a sit this afternoon!  But I am on the hunt for a good beach!  In the mean time here is my latest treasury of things I've been drooling over.
